Russia refuses GMO

The State Duma of Russia adopts a bill banning the cultivation of GM products in the territory of the country
The Russian State Duma has adopted in the third reading a bill that will ban cultivation and breeding of genetically modified plants and animals on the territory of the Russian Federation, cites RIA Novosti the relevant document.
According to the text of the bill, the seeding (planting) of genetic modified plants is banned with an exception to the scientific research work. The document also provides for obligatory registration for those who import GMO products into the country.
The violation of the regulation on GMO products provides for a fine from 10 to 50 thousand rubles for officials and from 100 to 500 thousand rubles for legal entities.
