In a new record supply level was reached on March 2, with 713.4 million cubic meters. The maximum value in 2017 was recorded on December 19 with 640 million cubic meters. But the result of March 2 was preceded by 9 consecutive days during which the record of the day before was canceled by the next day. In February 2018 Gazprom exported abroad 6.8% more than exported in the same month last year for a total of 17.4 billion cubic meters. In particular, exports to Germany in February 2018 increased by 8.5% (compared to February 2017) and those to Austria by 115.8%, surpassed by the record increase in supplies to the Netherlands (146,8%). Alexey Miller, president of Gazprom, commented on the results with these words: “We do what only Gazprom can do on the European market: we react promptly and provide consumers with the necessary volumes of gas”. Miller’s assessment mirrors that Bloomberg and the “Mareks Spectron” brokerage firm: “We are at the end of one of the coldest winters and Russia is the first supplier with sufficient reserve capacity to cover the sharp increase in demand”.
