The Minister of Economic Development of Italy Carlo Kalenda hold a talk at the business seminar entitled ‘Investments and joint ventures: what is the current scenario?’ held in the Pavilion ‘Italy in Russia’ at the XX St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

“Until now, our trade relations [between Russia and Italy] have been concentrated by 60% in Moscow and St. Petersburg. Now, the aim is to involve also other regions of the country [of Russia]. To this end, we are working with the Russian government and the regional governments on 340 proposals connected with the establishment of joint investment projects. New economic cooperation format ‘Made with Italy’ is getting to be highly engaged and there are a lot of things yet to be done. On the other hand, there is another not less attractive format ‘Made with Russia’. All proposals are to be reviewed throughout this year and are to be launched already in 2017. That will be an important moment for Italian small and medium enterprises,” Mr. Kalenda said.

The press conference was held in two sessions and involved speakers of fifteen Russian and Italian enterprises. They talked about their present and future Russian-Italian joint projects in the field of mechanical engineering, high technology, energy, agro-industry, infrastructure and finance.

CEO of Finmeccanica S.p.A. Mauro Moretti has talked on the company’s experiences in Russia. He assured that the company is willing to work in Russia in the industry of high technology, cyber security and space industry.
The president of Enel Spa Patrizia Grieco also talked on the company’s experience working in a partnership with Russian partners, which were first launched back in 2004. She spoke very positively on this experience. According to her, Enel is ready to continue and to expand its work in Russia, especially what concerns renewable energy.

The chairman of Barilla Holding SpA Guido Maria Barilla and CEO of Inalca SpA (Cremonini Group) Luigi Skordamalya spoke on joint venture format of production between Russian and Italian companies in the agricultural sector. The work in the direction of ‘Made with Italy’ is particularly important now and has a huge potential in the future. Not by chance at the opening of the press conference, the president of Association Conoscere Eurasia Antonio Fallico said that we are on the verge of a new economic and political cooperation between Russia and Italy. And it is an indisputable fact taking into account that it is for the first time the history of the forum a state-partner country of the event is having its personal Pavilion within the SPIF.
