Nov 15, 2016 3:39 pm

According to Vedomosti newspaper, PepsiCo signs a document of intentions with Governor of Krasnodar region to build a large baby food factory

American multinational company PepsiCo will build a large baby food factory next to the existing dairy plant of the company Wimm-Bill-Dann, owned by PepsiCo since 2011, in the city of Timashevsk, Krasnodar Krai. On Tuesday, PepsiCo President in Russia, Ukraine, and CIS countries Silviu Popovic and the regional Governor Veniamin Kondratiev have signed a relevant document of intentions.

The factory will be located next to the existing dairy plant and will be specialized in production of milk based baby food. PepsiCo will invest 2.6 bln rubles in the construction of the factory of 6 thousand 2m.

The future factory will have a daily capacity of 500 tones of milk, which will make it one of the 15 largest Russian processing companies, Vedomosti reports.

Baby food is one of the most steadily growing segments of the dairy production sector in Russia, according to the Executive Director of Russian dairy producers union Soyuzmoloko Artem Belov.

The Rosstat data for Jan-Sep 2016 shows milk based baby food production grew 2% totaling almost 40 thousand tones, while production of dried baby food fell 10% to almost 13 thousand tones.
