Banca Intesa Russia will participate in the placement of Russian government bonds despite the recommendations of the US government and the EU Commission. This was reported by the chairman of the bank’s Board of Directors Antonio Fallico.

“It is not a restriction, but a recommendation from the US. Banca Intesa Russia has stated that it wouldn’t follow it. There are banks that agreed. However, we will go on with our work. Some banks refused to place Russian Eurobonds, while Banca Intesa Russia has already said that it will continue its work,” Mr Fallico said.

He also said that Banca Intesa Russia is planning to participate in Russian big privatization programme.

Earlier, The US government has urged major banks not to bid on a potentially lucrative but “politically risky” Russian bond deals, claiming it could undermine international sanctions against Moscow.
