China and Russia on the way to harmonize the two strategic projects

China and Russia are about to complete all necessary documents to harmonize the two strategic projects of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) and the new Silk Road (also known as the One Belt project). Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov after the talks held with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi said that “the consultation mechanism has been launched between the EEU and China. The EEU working document is almost finalized to back up the consultations. It is about collective document of the Member States of the EEU,” Lavrov said.

According to him, “there are also consultations taking place at the ministerial level between the heads of ministries of foreign affairs of Russia and China. It is about potential join projects to be realized within the framework of the harmonization of the two projects.”

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov arrived to Beijing on Friday to meet with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. The two sides have largely discussed the upcoming visit of the Russian President Vladimir Putin to China scheduled for summer 2016.
