Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet other heads of states of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in Beshkek, Kyrgyzstan, on September 16, the Kremlin said on Wednesday.

“On September 16 Vladimir Putin will take part in the CIS Council of Heads of States in Bishkek. The CIS heads of state will summarize the activities of the interstate association in the context of the 25th anniversary of the CIS, and will exchange views on key issues of further development of the commonwealth,” the Kremlin said.

The participants “are expected to adopt a number of multilateral documents, including statements on combating international terrorism, on the global drug problem, in connection with the 25th anniversary of the CIS and on the occasion of the 70th anniversary since the end of Nuremberg Trials.” It is also planned “to sign some organizational decisions, in particular, on Russia’s CIS chairmanship in 2017.

The Kyrgyz capital of Bishkek hosts the CIS summit on September 16-17.
