The Italian proposal to remove from the new regulation of the European Medicines Agency (EMA), all references to the city of Amsterdam as a new official destination, was rejected. Sources within the European Commission say this would “complicate” the Italian battle to bring the EMA back to Milan.
Italy has appealed to the European Court of Justice against the decision of 20 November to assign the EMA to Amsterdam rather than to Milan, after the two cities had ended “ex aequo” in the final vote. The Amsterdam office, however, is currently nothing less than a construction site. On the contrary, in the official documentation presented by the Netherlands it appeared to be an already built construction. The temporary seat was judged “inadequate” by the Ema management itself.
The EMA is moving from London as a result of Brexit.
