The so called “frozen conflict” between Ukraine and Russia calls for urgent solutions to prevent more casualties which already reached 9.000 people. The question of Ukrainian crisis should not simply disappear from the agenda of the Western countries. Moreover, the EU shouldn’t keep putting this question off simply because it hasn’t come out with a solution. Instead, it should strive to take a pivotal role in resolving it in order to prove its unity and leadership which, unfortunately, seems to be absent at the moment. Otherwise, one could think that what is going on in Ukraine could happen anywhere in the world. Besides, we have to enhance cooperation and dialogue through such political platforms as the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). The EU should work to ensure peace in Ukraine and through that I believe we can be a  better Europe”.

Those were the words the spokeperson of the Party Forza Italia and member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Deborah Bergamini addressed the audience at the conference devoted to the Ukrainian crisis held in Palazzo Montecitorio (Rome, Italy) on April, 26.
