Russian authorities have approved the project of a new terminal area for Domodedovo airport, the major air hub in Russia. The works are supposed to be completed before FIFA 2018.
The new terminal will be built on the bases of the existing airport in accordance with the Under One Roof architectural concept. The total area of the future building will be of over 235 thousand square meters with a capacity of 12 million passengers per year.
100 check-in counters and 40 self-registration kiosk will be installed in the new passenger terminal. Relevant place will be also provided for airlines house offices, tourist centers, and transit area.
The airport general constructor is CIGNA GROUP. British company Pascall+Watson was involved in the preparatory work for the project to clarify the architectural and technological concept and the concept for the terminal interiors.
Moscow Domodedovo Airport is part of the major international aviation alliance Star Alliance and OneWord. In 2015, the airport handled 30.5 million people.There are 67 airline companies that operate regular passenger and freight transportation .
