From August 12, all the countries members of the Eurasian Economic Union introduced obligatory RFID labeling

Yesterday, August 12, the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union have introduced an obligatory RFID labeling on fur products. That means that from this day it is forbidden to purchase, store, use, transport and sale fur products without the special RFID labels.

“The purpose of this new labeling system is to combat the so called ‘gray’ market,” reads the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) statement.

According to the experts the share of ‘gray’ fur products occupies from 70% to 85% of the market. ‘Gray’ products are those that reaches the EEU countries without the customs duties paid and were fabricated on clandestine factories.

“The entrepreneurs have also to keep in mind that many issues connected to this new rule are subject to the regulation by each member state at the national level in accordance with the EEU Regulation. It is also concerned the penalties for its violation. Thus, one should also check what the national legislation say on the implementation of the EEU agreement on the introduction of obligatory RFID labeling of fur products,” said the Minister of Trade of the EEU Veronika Nikishina.
