Italian region Emilia-Romanga will create a network among the companies involved in the fashion industry. The project’s name is Fashion Valley and it is supposed to contribute to the development of the 4th pillar for economic development of the region together with food, wellness and automotive industries.
Today, there are 7.200 companies working in clothing, textiles, footwear etc. in Emilia-Romagna (5.5% of total number of companies in region) that employ about 52 thousand people (5.1% of local employees). There are also about 23 thousand companies that work for the fashion industry and employ some 90 thousand people. Together they make up the Made in Emilia-Romagna fashion industry with 30 thousand companies and 142 thousand employees. Their total export account to about EUR4.6 bnl a year (12.7% of national export).
The Fashion Valley of Emilia Romagna was discussed during a round-table in Bologna last month. The event has gathered all the representatives of fashion business in the region. The Councillor for Productive Activities of the Emilia-Romagna Region Palma Costs and Under-Secretary of State for Economy and Finance Paola De Micheli took part in the event. At the meeting were discussed various topics including innovation, internationalization and production organization.
