Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will meet Russian President Vladimir Putin on August 9 in St. Petersburg, Russia, Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Simsek said on Tuesday. The spokesman for Russia’s president Dmitry Peskov said that the meeting was confirmed.

Erdogan sent a letter of apology to Putin in late June. According to the Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich, that has contributed to the normalization of the relations between the two countries. Since then Russia has lifted the restrictions on tourism to Turkey.

“We are looking forward to have a constructive conversation. After this meeting there will be other meetings held at the ministerial level. We believe that the restoration of the bilateral relations should be gradual and unfreeze the relations in trade and economy,” Mr Dvorkovich said.
