A new EU 150-million guarantee instrument for Western Balkan SMEs since the beginning of 2019: EU Enlargement Commissioner Johannes Hahn announced this in Vienna. In a few days, the summit of the Western Balkans will take place in London (July 9th and 10th): the leaders and ministers of the six Balkan countries and of the participating EU countries (Italy, Austria, Germany, France, Slovenia, Croatia, the Kingdom) United and Poland) will discuss the details of the program and the socio-economic investments necessary for the region to develop and get closer to the Union. The selection of business projects will start at the beginning of 2019, while the date for the start of EU funding is set at 2020. “We are committed to guaranteeing this money until the end of 2020 and I hope that, after the end of the current multiannual financial framework, there is an opportunity to extend this guarantee program, “explained Hahn.
