More than 51.8 billion rubles (approximately 624 million euro) will be invested in the development of the Far Eastern Railway in 2016, reports the Russian Railways website.

As last year, the modernization of railway infrastructure on the Baikal-Amur and Trans-Siberian route and increasing carrying capacity in the East is prioritized among other infrastructural projects. In fact, only for this project will be allocated about 41.9 billion rubles (about 504 million euro).

The website also reports that in 2016 it is planned to put into operation 10 railway stations after reconstruction (Acura, Data, Kenada, Komsomolsk-Sortirovochnuy, Uktur, Ulak, Imbo, Vanino (Toki Park), Khabarovsk-2 (Park B), Lime Also), as well as 14 new sidings (Barsovy, Pozharsky, Moskovsky Komsomolets, 323 km, Badjal, Duque, Katam, Pelj, Sektali, Talidzhak, Ulagir, Holoni, Mokhort, Sagdzhemu).

Another project will update 400 km of the Far Eastern railway and reconstruction of 6 bridges, as well as development of railway automation and remote control systems. For the realization of projects of social importance will be invested 226.7 million ruble, which includes construction of 27 apartment blocks in the territory of Khabarovsk
