Loading volume of Russian Railways in February grew by 2.9%

Russian Railways continuse to increase its rail freight traffic volumes. According to the data published by Russian state company, in February 2016, its loading amount increased by 2.9% compared to the same month last year reaching 95,2 million tons. Its freight turnover also increased in this month reaching 184,9 bn tons-km (+5.9%).

Taking January-February 2016, the loading amount rests at the level of the previous year reaching 188,97 million tons. Largest growth in volume was registered for coal (55,1 mln tons, + 3.1%), chemical and mineral fertilizers (8.9 million tons, +6.4%), building materials (16.9 mln tons, + 19.3%) sulfur and ferrous metals ores (3.3 million tons, + 6.3%). Whereas, decrease in volume was seen in loading of oil and petroleum products (40.6 million tons, down by 5.9%), ferrous metals (11.2 million tons, down by 8.5%), ferrous steel scrap (12 million tons, -26.1%) and cement (2.6 mln tons, -14.8%).
