The French parliament has given the final go-ahead, with a vote of the Assemblée Nationale, to the ban on using mobile phones in primary and secondary schools of first grade as well as in some high schools, accepting a bill that implements a campaign promise election of President Emmanuel Macron.
The text prohibits the use of any equipment connected to the Internet to primary and secondary schools, if not for “pedagogical use”, left to the evaluations of individual institutions in their internal regulations, and for disabled students. High schools will have the possibility, but not the obligation, to adopt the prohibition in their internal regulations.
