The GEFCO Group has acquired one of the leading Dutch companies specialized in air and sea freight operations IJS Global, reports TASS with reference to the JSC Russian Railways (RZD) financial statements based on Russian accounting standards (RAS).

According to the statement, RZD through its subsidiary Gefco S.A. has acquired 100% stake in IJS Global for EUR52 million.
The GEFCO Group had announced the acquisition of IJS Global back in September 2015. The European leader in automotive logistics believes that the deal will allow the Group to strengthen its positions in China, Southeast Asia and the US, as well as expand its business sectors, in particular what concerns pharmaceutics and high-tech.

Present in 150 countries, GEFCO is one of the top 10 European Groups. It achieved a turnover of EUR4.1 billion in 2014 and employs 11,500 employees. With over 350 business locations worldwide, GEFCO is developing its activities in Central Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle-East, East Asia and South America. At the end of 2012, JSC Russian Railways acquired 75% stake in French logistics operator GEFCO for EUR800 million from PSA Peugeot Citroen, which is now left with 25% stake.
