Half of the European GDP was generated by Germany with over a fifth of the EU’s GDP (21.3%), the United Kingdom (15.2%) and France (14.9%), followed by Italy ( 11.2%), Spain (7.6%) and the Netherlands (4.8%). This was announced by Eurostat presenting data for 2017. The EU’s gross domestic product reached a total of € 15.3 trillion.

With a GDP of 187.8 billion registered in 2017, Romania ranked sixteenth EU economy, accounting for 1.2% of European GDP.

At the other end of the scale, according to the European statistical agency, eleven member states generated a GDP of less than 1% of the EU total: Malta, Cyprus, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Luxembourg, Slovakia and Hungary.
