ISTAT confirmed on Tuesday that Italy slipped into recession in the second half of 2018 even though it revised up it GDP figure for the fourth quarter to -0.1%.

The national statistics agency had put Italy’s GDP as having fallen by 0.2% in the October-December period in the preliminary estimate it gave late in January.

Nevertheless, this still made for a second consecutive quarter of negative growth after the drop of 0.1% registered in the third quarter, meaning the economy technically went into recession.
