The president of the Senate, Elisabetta Alberti Casellati, told the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, about the outcome of the political exploration for the formation of the new government.

After the “stall” recorded by Mattarella himself at the end of the first round of consultation the only variation recorded by Casellati consists of an (insufficient) opening of the 5 Star Movement towards the Center right (whose coalition was the most voted by the Italians ) while remaining the hostility against the leader of Forza Italy Silvio Berlusconi.

The “exploratory” mandate entrusted to Caselllati provided for the verification of the possibility of forming a government constituted by the center-right and the 5-star anti-establishment movement (M5S), the largest single party in the new parliament.
