The Slovak police arrested three Italians called into question by the reporter Jan Kuciak, killed last Sunday. This is the Calabrian entrepreneur Antonino
Vadalà, finished in handcuffs with his brother Bruno and a cousin, Pietro Catroppa. The arrests were carried out in two locations in eastern Slovakia, Michalovce and Trebishov.

All three are cited in an explosive reportage of Kuciak, published posthumously, which denounces high-level corruption in Slovakia and links with Ndrangheta. In addition to the three Italians whose names are known, there would be other stops. The Slovak police spoke of “several” arrests, according to some sources would be at least 10. The investigative reporter Kuciack, a 27-year- old Slovak, was found dead on Sunday together with his contemporaneous girlfriend Martina Kusnirova, in her home in Velka Maca, not far from Bratislava.

Kuciak wrote of four families in odor of Ndrangheta operating in Calabria and in the sights now of the investigators: Vadalà, Cinnante, Roda and Catroppa. These “families” are operating mainly in the agricultural sector, owners of dozens of companies, with assets of tens of millions of euros and receive support from EU funds for hundreds of hectares of land. Under the reporter’s lens, the links between Vadala and the close entourage of the Slovak premier Robert Fico had ended, in particular with Maria Troskova, assistant to the head of government and with Vilian Jasan, secretary of the security council. Yesterday the two resigned, together with the Minister of Culture, Marek Madaric.
