No irregularities in baby food, oil and wine, while in the fruit, vegetables, cereals and other products the cases of contamination are less than 1%, in line with previous years. It is the result of the phytosanitary checks carried out in 2016 published on the Ministry of Health website. According to the document, a total of 11263 food samples were analyzed to verify the presence of residues of plant protection products and pesticides. Of these, only 92 were higher than the maximum limits allowed by current legislation, with a percentage of irregularities equal to 0.8%. E ‘was worse with regard to import controls, for which 1360 samples were made, 44 of which were irregular, equal to 3.2%, however, down compared to last year (5.7%). “The overall national results indicate an adequate level of consumer protection and the irregularities (0.8%) are below the European average (1.6%) – the report reads – The foods that showed the most non-compliance were peaches, apples and oranges between the fruit, tomatoes, sweet peppers and beans with pods, while rice between cereals is the non-compliant food found at national level. The non-compliant samples among the other products were milk derivatives, cultivated mushrooms and ginger “.
