Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is expected to meet Russian president Vladimir Putin on May 6. During this meeting, Japanese Prime Minister will present a bilateral economic cooperation plan with Russia, reports Sputniknews with reference to NHK TV.

The plan will provide for eight strategic points covering such areas as oil and gas development and the modernization of ports and airports in the Russian Far East.

On Sunday, Abe left for a visit to Russia and G7 states prior to the group’s summit in Japan in late May.

On Wednesday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Moscow was hoped that the Friday meeting would help form a constructive atmosphere in Russia-Japan relations.
