The largest greenhouse complex totaling 12 hectares has been built in Kazakhstan with an official opening scheduled for early Dec. 2016.
The complex TOO “BRBAPK”, constructed by the state company KazAgro, is located in the city of Almaty and worth 6.6 billion tenges (337.86 tenges = $1). It was financed by KazAgro’s subsidiary KazAgroFinance.
The greenhouse’s capacity will be 3.2 thousand tons of tomatoes and 4 thousand tons of cucumbers per year. The facility will implement the technologies from the Dutch company Dalsem.
Promoting national agricultural production, KazAgro has confirmed its readiness to finance some 41 projects for the construct of industrial-type greenhouses with a total area of 147 hectares. These projects will cost 46.5 billion tenges in total creating production capacity of 63 thousand tons of fruits and vegetables per year. 33 facilities out of the 41 confirmed projects have been already built up, including KH “Argyn” (Karaganda region) and CH “Aidarbayev” (Almaty region).
According to the Kazakh Ministry of Agriculture, in 2015, total volume of vegetables produced in the country amounted to 147.7 thousand tons, which satisfied only 83% of domestic demand.
