Kazakhstan facilitates visa regime for 45 countries

The Republic of Kazakistan introduces visa-free regime for 45 countries and adopts new rules of invitation registration and visa issuance

New rules for visitors of Kazakhstan enter into force starting from Jan 2017. They will influence citizens of 45 countries of Europe, Asia and America. According to Kazakh Foreign Ministry, it is about simplification of visa issuance procedures as well as introduction of visa-free regime for up to 30 days.

Visa free regime is envisaged for Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Chili, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Great Britain, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Israel, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxemburg, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, UAE and US.

The citizens of these countries from now on can stay in Kazakhstan for a period of up to 30 days without any visa, they will be only asked to pass a short  registration upon arrival.

In 2014-2015 Kazakhstan had a test visa-free period for 20 of these countries.

Earlier Kazakhstan had visa-free regime of up to 15 days with 19 countries, mainly with the post-soviet states.

Back in Dec., Kazakh Minister of Foreign Affairs Erlan Idrissov announced at an extended briefing the adoption of new Rules of invitation registration and visa issuance of the Republic for foreign citizens as from Jan. 2017. The new Rules in particular provides for new type division of the visas, they are only 3 now instead of  being 14 previously, namely «A» visas for diplomatic, official and investor visas, «B» visas for a short-term stay, and «С» for a long-term stay. Moreover, the Rules also modified categories and the multiplicity of visas, as well as the list of documents required for invitation was largerly minimized. The changes have also been made in respect of visas for family members of the diplomats accredited in Kazakhstan, education visas and visas for those who work in the Astana International Financial Center, etc.
