Russia is interested in foreign investments in geological exploration and extraction of minerals in different regions of Russia, including the Far East, director of the Geology and Subsoil Use department of the Natural Resources Ministry Alexei Orlov said during the annual Eurasian mining conference sponsored by the Canadian Business Association in Russia and Eurasia (CERBA) in Torino.

The Minister recalled that “Russia has one of the richest bases of natural resources, including gold, diamonds, and nickel” highlighting that foreign companies could participate in tenders for exploration and production of these minerals in Siberia and the Far East.

According to Mr Orlov, many tenders planned to be hold in 2015 were not completed and “rolled over” to 2016. He also said that in recent years the legal and regulatory climate in Russia’s mining industry has been improved.
