Moscow was placed for the first time on the list of top cities in the world to visit in 2017 according to Lonely Planet’s annual Best in Travel list.
The Russian capital was placed ninth. According to Lonely Planet, new logistic infrastructure such as subway lines and airport Zhukovskyv will guarantee good transport connects for travelers. Moscow was also praised for its new tourist locations such as Zaryadye Park, as well as for hosting 2018 FIFA.
Topping the list is Bordeaux, France, where a wine museum was opened recently. In second place is Cape Town, South Africa. Los Angeles, the US, is in third place. The top 10 also includes Mérida (Mexico), Ohrid (Macedonia), Pistoia (Italy), Seoul (South Korea), Lisbon (Portugal), and Portland (USA).
In September, at the prestigious Business Traveller Russia & CIS Awards Moscow has been rated the best city for business and event tourism.
