The second round of consultations will start next week but the official date has not yet been set. The President of the Republic Mattarella has just announced “some days of reflection” so that the parties verify “the possible solutions to give life to a government”. The new consultations could already start mid-week, between Wednesday and Thursday. The second round, “aims to identify, to bring out, according to articles 92 and 94 of our Constitution, a composition of a government that has the support of the majority of the Parliament”. That is to allow the Head of State to identify a person who can be appointed as head of a government, able to gain confidence in the Chambers. Among the main deadlines that “weigh” on the consultations is the Economic and Financial Document (Def), which must be presented by April 10 by the Council of Ministers and then, approved by Parliament, must be sent to Brussels by April 30 . In the event that the formation of the new government lasted longer than 2-3 weeks, it would be the Gentiloni government to present Def.
