The new government will be formed before the start of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

Penskov said that “surely” the new government will be formed by the start of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, which will be held this year from 24 to 26 May.

At the same time, he admitted that he had difficulty in indicating the terms for appointments in the administration of the head of state, but he did not rule out that they could take place in parallel with those of the government.

A source of Sputnik previously stated that the first meeting of the new Russian government should be held on 17 May.

The government, according to legislation, resigned after the inauguration of Vladimir Putin on May 7. The next day, the state Duma approved the candidacy of Dmitry Medvedev for the post of prime minister.

The head of the executive has already announced proposals on the appointment of deputy premieres. His first deputy could be Anton Siluanov (will oversee economic and financial policy), while the other substituted premier should be Tatiana Golikova (social policies), Alexei Gordeev (agri-food industry), Dmitry Kozak (industry and energy), Vitaly Mutko (building ), Yuri Borisov (defense industry), Olga Golodets (culture and sport), Maxim Akimov (digital economy, transport and communications) and Konstantin Chuichenko (as head of the government apparatus). Later it became known that Yury Trutnev could retain the position of vice-premier.

In general, the structure of the new government “will not surprise anyone”, said Federal Council President Valentina Matvienko, “I think there will be no radical changes”.
