Russia is getting ready to revive its productive capacity in agriculture. One of the main points in the development of the country’s agroindustrial complex is the development of its agricultural machinery industry. That was therefore the main topic of the meeting organized by the Ministry of Agriculture in the framework of the programme for ‘importsubstitution’.
One of the documents discussed during the meeting was the report of the Ministry on “The main tasks of the regional institutions in order to update the fleet of agricultural machinery in accordance with the adopted state programme for the development of agriculture until 2020 and the state support measures”.
The report is setting clear targets to be reached in medium-long term to contribute to the national efforts to revive agricultural machinery industry. The document of 50 pages, a copy of which was obtained by Eurasiatx, also provides analytical data on the current situation and the projections, together with current and future state subsidy programmes for the development of the industry.
The deputy head of the Ministry of Agriculture Dzhambulat Hatuov has underlined that in order to revive the country’s agroindustrial complex the development of the agricultural machinery industry is by far the most important task. “Today we have gathered to speak on the industry’s capacity to produce agricultural machinery and to outline a medium-term plan for the modernization of the industry,” he stressed at the meeting. “We need a systematic approach to produce high-tech national farm machinery”.
According to the document, Russia holds a large number of old machines (over 10 years), their number is higher than the European average. This problem should be solved by first according to the ministry. Therefore, to renew agricultural equipment, the country needs at least 270 000 new tractors, 57 thousand new combine harvesters and 10 thousand forage harvesters. For this purpose annually the country should obtain at least 40 thousand new tractors, 12 thousand combine harvesters and 3 thousand new forage harvesters.
The meeting was also attended by Alexander Morozov, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, and Petr Chekmarev, the Director of the Department of mechanization, application of chemicals and plant protection of the Ministry of Agriculture.
