Russian society and foreign policy, relations with neighbors and comments on several world leaders, private life and relations with his ex-wife – these are just a few questions Russians wanted to ask their President Vladimir Putin during his fourteenth Direct Line hold on Thursday in Moscow.

On the question regarding the well known subject on if the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) will have its own currency, Mr President replied without leaving any room of doubts: “It is an interesting subject. We will get to it when the level of the economic development of the countries participants of the EEU will be more alined and compatible. We should not repeat the mistakes of the European Union when introducing a single currency among the member countries with very different economic development.» On his view, from this mistake one got such difficulties as those faced with Greece.

Mr Putin also said that the EEU has first of all consider all that issues before moving further with the integration. «The introduction of the single currency is voluntary, that is the matter we must agreed on together. All of us have to really want it”, Mr Putin said.
