Russian President Vladimir Putin will discuss the relations between Russia and the European Union with the President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker in the framework of the XX St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), reports the official website of the Kremlin.

“Today I’ve already had a pleasure to hear your debate [Mr Juncker hold a talk during the opening ceremony of the SPIEF]. I know that you’ve reserved a part of those topics you’ve touched upon during your speech for our later conversation tête-à-tête. There are issues that are on the agenda which are to be discussed by first – the relations between Russia and the European Union, the European Commission. I’m especially glad to meet you at the St. Petersburg international economic forum, and to discuss all these issues,” Mr Putin said.

Earlier, speaking at the opening ceremony Mr Juncker said that the importance to continue the dialogue with Russia is dictated by the “common sense”. He also said that he would like to discuss the issue of sanctions with the Russian President.

According to Mr Juncker the dialogue between Russia and the EU should be launched after the full implementation of the Minsk agreements. “This is the only way to lift the economic sanctions,” he said.

Speaking at the SPIEF’s opening ceremony the head of the European Commission also urged British people not to vote for Brexit.
