Thousands of Romanians have challenged the cold and snow today in Bucharest and in several other cities of the country to express their support to the head of the anti-corruption prosecution (Dna), Laura Codruta Kovesi, attacked by the left government who wants to resign. “Codruta, do not forget it, we are with you” and “Justice, not corruption” are the slogans marked by the demonstrators, about 3,000, according to the public agency Agerpres, gathered in Bucharest in front of the government headquarters. Hundreds of people have also demonstrated in Timisoara (West), Cluj (North-West), Sibiu and Brasov (Center). Justice Minister Tudorel Toader launched a “revocation procedure” against Kovesi last Thursday, accused of “violating” the Constitution and “damaging the image” of the country abroad. According to the law, it is up to the center-right president, Klaus Iohannis, at loggerheads with the government, to decide on the dismissal of Kovesi.
