Rostov-on-Don has presented its new residential area – so called City of the Future – of total 265 hectares ready to host 140 thousand people. The project was presented at the International Market for Property Professional MIPIM from 15 to 18 March in Cannes.

The new residential area will be built on the territory of the airport that is closing in 2018. The project was designed by French architect Anthony Bechu.
According to the press service of the Governor of the Rostov region, the project provides for construction of green zone in the eastern part of the region including gardens and parks across the new districts. The total cost of the project is estimated at about 250 bln rubles (about 3 bln and 250 mln euro at current exchange rate).

Apart from residential housing the building plan provides for construction of parking facilities, fire stations, hospitals, gyms and cinemas. It also envisages the construction of kindergartens for 14 thousand children and schools for 25 thousand places. The residential area will have more roads reserved to pedestrian rather that car use.

Last year construction companies and individual development companies has put in operation more than 30 thousand apartments (total 2,4 mln square meters) in Rostov region. The largest number of economy class housing last year were realized in Rostov-on-Don, Azov, Bataysk and Volgodonsk, Novocherkassk and Shakhty regions.
