Italian Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Graziano Delrio and Russian Vice President Arkady Dvorkovic spoke on collaboration and investments in infrastructure and transport sector, in particular on high-speed rail lines, Italian Ministry reports.
The Meeting was held in view of the Italian-Russian Council for economic, financial and industrial cooperation to be held on October 5 in Rome, Italy. The meeting will be co-chaired by the Minister for Foreign Affairs Paolo Gentiloni and the Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovic.
The two sides centered on the topics of mutual collaboration and investments in infrastructure and transport sectors stressing a need to strengthen and to facilitate connections as well as economic and cultural exchanges between the two countries.
The ministers also spoke on the Italian participation in the development of the railway sector in Russia, in particular what concerns the high-speed rail lines, along with promotion of modernization, technical equipment and management of motorway sector for which bilateral contacts are currently underway.
The side confirmed mutual commitments in the signed Memorandum of Understanding on air services and mutual interest for strengthening collaboration in order to increase investments, technological innovation and management of transportation infrastructures, including airports and ports.
Earlier in July 2016, Russian Railways (RZD) and Italian State Railways (Ferrovie dello Stato Italiano) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation for the development and implementation of joint projects.
