The Ministry of Agriculture of Russia expects that until 2020 the agro-industrial sector will attract 1 trillion rubles of private investment, said the head of the Ministry Alexander Tkachev at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2016) on Saturday.
According to him, the government is providing all necessary support to the agricultural sector, as it became one of the key sectors in Russian policy of importsabstitution. In particular, the government implements several programmes aiming at the development of agriculture in Russia. Therefore, the country has managed to increase the volume of production in past years substantially.
It was also possible to attract private investments to support the agro-industrial complex of the country. According to the Minister, from 2008 to 2015, there were invested 1.5 trillion rubles. It is expected that in the period 2016-2020 the industry will receive around 1 trillion rubles of private investment.
