The Russian-Japanese intergovernmental commission will held a meeting on Nov. 15 anticipating the December meeting between Vladimir Putin and Shinzo Abe
The Russia-Japan intergovernmental commission will meet on Nov. 15 to finalize the economic agenda of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s December visit for talks with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, reports RIA Novosti citing the Russian Deputy Minister of Economic Development as saying on Monday.
“Indeed, next week, on November 15, there will be held an intergovernmental commission between Russia and Japan, where the economic agenda of President Putin’s talks with Prime Minister Abe in Dec. is expected to be finalized,” Stanislav Voskresensky told reporters.
Last week, Japan’s trade minister Hiroshige Seko and Economic Development Minister Alexei Ulyukayev agreed to seek concrete progress on about 30 cooperation projects ahead of Dec. meeting, Nikkei business daily reported earlier.
According to the newspaper, “Japan is dangling economic cooperation [with Moscow] in hopes of luring Russia into discussing a long-running territorial issue [over the Southern Kuriles]”.
