Russia Ministry of Agriculture to launch interventions in grain harvested in 2016 on August 19, reports the press service of the ministry.
“For the purpose of the market regulation of agricultural products, commodities and food the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia is starting state purchasing interventions regarding grain harvested in 2016 on August 19,” the ministry’s statement states.
It is presumed that the interventions will start with Crimea, where, as of August 11, grain and pulse crops were cut from 99.5% of Crimea’s total crop areas and the harvest have reached 1.5 mln tons of grain.
The total volume of grain purchases into Crimea’s intervention fund will depend on the supply-demand balance and market environment and may reach 100,000 tons, the statement reads.
