Russian and Italian football federations to sign cooperation agreement

The FIGC President Carlo Tavecchio will visit Moscow on Wednesday to hold a meeting and sign a cooperation agreement with the RFU President Vitaly Mutko
Italian Football Federation (FIGC) and Russian Football Union (RFU) will sign a cooperation agreement in Moscow, reports TASS with reference to a spokesman for the Italian national football team Paolo Corbi.
“On Wednesday, the FIGC President Carlo Tavecchio will hold a bilateral meeting with the RFU President Vitaly Mutko, during which the parties are supposed to sign a technical cooperation agreement,” Mr Corbi said.
The document aims first of all to stipulate a technical cooperation between the two national football federations as well as to provide exchange of experience, a spokesman for the Italian national team told TASS.
Whether the the agreement would stipulate a possible friendly match between the two national football team, Mr Corbi said one should wait until Wednesday.
Earlier, RFU President Mutko, who also holds the post of the Russian sports minister, announced that he would hold a meeting with the Italian Football Federation to speak on possible friendly match. According to him, the country’s national football squad will play a total of 10 friendly matches in 2017.
National football teams all around the world are currently at the qualifying stage battling for the place in the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Russia, as the hosting country, has been already guaranteed a place in the world’s major football event. Therefore, the Russian national team is playing friendly football matches in the run-up to the FIFA. In fact, last Sunday’s game against Costa Rica was its third friendly encounter over the past two months, after matches with Turkey and Ghana .
