Ryanair’s terms of contract which limit the possibility for passengers to make a claim – for example for compensation for flights canceled by strike – against the airline exclusively at the Irish courts, violate EU rules. It is the new head of accusation launched by EU commissioner to justice Vera Jourova at the Irish low cost, after the commissioner of welfare Marianne Thyssen last week had already invited her to respect the European rules on the right to work.   The case broke out thanks to the reporting of consumers in Belgium, who have seen the terms of sale change from 2 October. Ms Jourova announced that the Commission, the EU Consumer Guarantee Network (CPC) will discuss Ryanair’s practices in the light of European rules in two weeks, and if necessary coordinate legal actions on an EU scale.
