Growing demand for vacations in Siberia

The number of bookings for summer vacation in Russia rose by 30%. Most popular destination after Moscow and St. Petersburg is Siberia

More and more foreign tourists are booking summer holidays in Russia. The demand has grown almost three times, reports Kommersant with reference to the Momondo online research system.

Curious to mention that in top destinations apart from Moscow and St. Petersburg are also such far north cities of Siberia as Irkutsk, which showed 99.5 percent growth of demand for future summer trips. There were also growth in demand for Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg, Krasnodar, Sochi and Simferopol.

The surge in demand for trips to Russia has also been registered by the Skyscanner online flight booking system. According to its data, the number of early flight bookings to Russia from foreign countries for June this year is 35 percent higher than last year.

The most interest for summer trips in Russia have shown tourists from Germany, the USA, Denmark, Norway, Israel and the UK, according to data from Momondo.

According to Irina Riabovol, the representative of Momondo in Russia, increased demand for Russia among foreign tourists is mainly due to the devaluation of the ruble.
