According to Deputy Head of the Federal Agency for Tourism Sergei Korneev, 2016 will be an important year for Russian tourist sector. There are expected 27 million tourists this year, which mainly due to the cheap ruble.

According to Mr Korneev, there is a strong demand for Russia now, and it is deriving from economic logic: the ruble’s devaluation is giving more chances for the current year. “Our representation offices abroad explain to tourists that now it is the best time to go to Russia. I think that in 2016 we could reach 27 million tourists,” Korneev said.

There has been already noticed a growing tourist arrivals from Iran, for this new charter routes were launched. According to the latest data released by the Federal Statistics Service Rosstat, the first nine months of 2015 seen 20.7 million foreign tourists.
