If a referendum on Serbia’s accession to the EU was held today in the Balkan country, 55% of the citizens would vote in favor of Belgrade’s entry into the Union, 21% would vote against, while 24% of the sample responded that would not vote or do not know what to vote. This is revealed by a new survey by the Serbian Ministry for European Integration.

The survey suggests that the percentage of people who support EU membership has reached the highest level since July 2011.

In a note, the Ministry for European Integration stressed that the survey confirmed that 68% of respondents believe that reforms are essential for the country’s entry into the EU and claims that they should be pursued for the good of the nation and to improve living standards, not just because Brussels asks for it.
